01
Describe the load and intended duty
Provide the known load weight and its source, dimensions, lifting points and relevant drawings. Explain whether the task involves lifting, pulling or positioning, and whether the equipment will be used repeatedly or for a particular project. Highlight uncertain weight, unusual load shape or personnel-related duty. A photograph helps explain the arrangement but does not establish load weight or a lifting-point rating.
02
Specify the connections, not only the capacity
State the proposed sling type, length, number of legs and connection arrangement if already determined. For shackles and other connectors, include the space available and relevant pin, hole and internal dimensions. The marked working load limit is not a universal rating for every direction or configuration. The competent planner should confirm compatibility and any application-specific capacity reduction using the selected product instructions.
03
Explain the environment and documentation
Identify marine exposure, chemicals, heat, sharp contact surfaces or other relevant working conditions. Ask for the exact product identification, instructions and supply documentation your project requires. Where inspection, testing or additional marking is also needed, make it a separate named requirement. Do not treat a general certificate request as a complete specification for an assembled lifting system.
04
Make the quotation easy to check
List quantities by line item, the delivery location and required date, plus any approved alternatives. Ask the quotation to state the proposed products, documentation, exclusions and confirmed availability. Compare substitutions against the application before accepting them; matching a nominal capacity alone is insufficient. Send this brief to Scaftech for Lifting Gear Sales & Supply. An enquiry begins scope and availability checks; it is not a completed purchase or a confirmed delivery.
